Just making a note for next year :o)

Dear Blog i am making this entry so next year when my flu jab is due I can reread these notes and take heed :o) the card above is from my Dear Grandchildren ~
Two weeks ago it was Saturday morning I woke with and awful sore throat and a real bad cold ~ I cannot remember the last time I had a cold ~
the following Saturday I was due to have my Flu injection ~ but doubted they would give it to me as when the time came my cold was not any better ~ but the Nurse took my temperature and it was normal so she said it would be OK to go ahead ~ As Lyn pointed out to me she said " you might as well have both to cope with at the same time" ~
some days passed and I was feeling pretty rough ~ by the Thursday I couldn't catch my breath and was having some difficulty breathing ~ Lyn popped her head in the door and asked if I would like her to ring the Doctor to make an appointment ~ which I readily agreed was a very good idea ~
She rang the Doctor and got through just before the surgery opened and was asked questions by the person at the other end of the phone ~ when she mentioned my breathing problems she said an ambulance was on the way they could not afford to wait on a Doctor's appointment ~
Bear in mind I live 13 miles from any large Town/City but the ambulance was here in a very very short time ~ Plus a paramedic ~ all in all there were 5 people in my room ~ one nice chappie gave me some oxygen which I remember was lovely to be able to breath deeply ~ I was having a very bad Asthma attack and I can't remember the last time I had one of those either must be a good 8 years ago ~ I am used to Mild attacks and can cope with them but this was a cracker !!!!! ~
They thought it was all due to having a cold and a chest infection and having the Flu Jab to cope with as well ~ everything else they checked out was fine no heart problems in fact no other problems at all ~ so you might say I am "Fighting Fit" just a bit fragile at the moment :o) ~
Making good progress am on Antibiotics and steroids at the moment ~ and you should see the size of those Antibiotics and I have to swallow them whole :o( ~
And of course I must thank my Darling Daughter Lyn for taking good care of me ~ So a big Thank You from your Mum xxx
Memo to myself ~ If you have the slightest cold next year round whatever else you do do not have that Flu injection :o)

Poor you Ally, I know how you feel as I came home this week with pneumonia! I'm so glad Lyn is taking such good care of you. I hope you're soon 100% again Ally. Jeannette xx

Oh goodness, Ally, I sure hope you feel better soon. My son has asthma and gets some terrible breathing attacks. No fun at all. I was able to get my flu shot this year but every other year if I even sound the least bit sick, the nurse at work refuses to jab me. They don't even bother taking my temp. I'm glad your ambulance was there for you quickly. Take care! xx

Dear Ally that nurse has a lot to answer for they always say not to have our flu jag if we have a cold she should have know better. Hope you are going to let the surgery know. I have now and again had an off day or two but nothing like that. take care dear hope you are up and about soon am sure all that great Norfolk air will do the trick.. Love Joan.

Oh, I'm hoping you're on the mend. It sounds like a combination of a cold, the flu shot, and asthma really was a bad one for you. I get my flu shot every year, but as a previous commenter noted, they aren't supposed to give it to you if you already have any kind of infection.

Feel better soon!
Beth

oh my! what a time you have had! I'm so sorry; sounds like a nasty bug on top of getting the flu jab (I like that terminology; we call it the flu shot here); I'm glad you are on the mend; rest up and do what the doctor says; take care of yourself

so glad your daughter is there to help take care of you as well

Alls well that ends well, but how very scary for you Ally!!! So glad that you had your daughter around to take such good care of you. Todd had his flu jab this year. I have always heard it's not good to have any kind of jab when you have a cold.

Get well soon, Ally - that is frightening not being able to breathe. I have asthma too, and it always acts up if I catch a cold, the last one giving me three rounds of antibiotics. Hope you are feeling like "yourself" in no time. ((HUGS))

Good morning Ally. :) Wow you have had a time of it havent you? I am glad it was nothing serious, but also glad they sent the ambulance right away too, just in case. Better to be sure. I am sorry you are feeling so badly. Shelby and I have been sick for two weeks now but I think we are about over it. Nothing like what you have been going through with the breathing though, that is just very scary. You take plenty of Vitamin C and some chicken soup is heavenly when you are sick. Why do they have to make pills so big? Growing up we call them horse pills! That sure was sweet of your loving grandchildren to make you such a nice get well card. I know it made you feel better. :) Love, Kelly

Lousy being sick, isn't it? I recently had a full physical and had to actually disabuse my own doctor of the notion that a flu shot was part of the procedure! He didn't like my refusal, too bad I can say no to a vaccine made with the actual attenuated DNA of the virus it's trying to eradicate. Same with antibiotics for bacterial infections. Care for yourself, keep good thoughts. http://cathy-daretothink/blogspot.com/
